At Serac, we believe in hammocking responsibly and encouraging other adventurers to do the same. That’s why each of our hammocks come with a pair of extra durable hammock straps designed to prevent damaging the trees. Serac Tree Huggers are lightweight, strong, and intuitive to use. Most importantly, they follow guidelines established by Leave No Trace to minimize your impact when hanging in your hammock.
Protect Our Trees
Most hammocks on the market include ropes to help you get your hammock up. Some won’t come with anything at all. But rope is actually a really bad idea to use on trees. The rope needs to support all of your weight, which causes it to tears through the bark of the trees you’re hanging from.
Our Tree Huggers provide a large surface area of 1 inch width. This larger surface area allows the weight of the hammock and hammocker to be spread across the 1 inch strap, reducing the strain on the tree. Next time you set up with a Serac Hammock, you can rest assured that you’re not harming the very trees we love.
1 Clip Setup
Ropes not only hurt the trees, they’re also a mess to setup. You need to learn a couple tricky knots just to hang your hammock. Tying and untying knots for each minor adjustment – that’s the last thing you’d want to do after a long day’s hike. I’ve been there.
Tree Huggers are designed with multiple loops all along the length of the strap. Adjusting the hammock is as easy as clipping and unclipping the carabiner. Set up is fast so you can relax more and stress less.
